Mauritius is blessed with a tropical climate and is a fantastic year-round holiday destination. Temperatures range from the low to mid-20s°C in the cooler months (April to October), up to the late 20s°C and early 30s°C during the gorgeous summer months from November to March.

Mauritius is 2 hours ahead of South Africa. The monetary unit is the Mauritian Rupee (Rs) which is divided into 100 cents. Major currencies such as US Dollars and Euros, and even South African Rands, are accepted in most hotels and by many vendors. One fantastic thing to note that Mauritius is a visa-free destination for South Africans (in fact all of the locations offered by the Holiday Factory are visa-free!)

Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. In the evening, the dress-code for dinner is usually smart casual and gents are required to wear long trousers. You may also want to take some swimming shoes as there are urchins in some places and the corals can be sharp. But whatever you leave behind, take it as an opportunity for some retail therapy. Mauritius is a living and working island so you will be able to get most things you might need. In fact, you won’t regret a trip to the shops or markets.

Contemporary Mediterranean restaurant with an inventive yet approachable menu that is true to its Mediterranean origins. The bar offers a wide variety of wine, non-alcoholic cocktails and classic cocktails.

Senso
Savour distinctive local cuisine, tasty international favourites and an expansive buffet when you dine at Senso restaurant. This inviting, all-day restaurant is found just steps away from the main pool.

Veda
An Indian backdrop makes Veda Instagram worthy. A celebration of diversity and indigenous recipes, techniques and produce, researched and curated by the finest Indian plates, derived from home recipes and made to share in an informal and yet smart setting. The restaurant celebrates an eclectic mix of flavours from every corner of the country and seasonal spices are constantly added to the menu.

Sugar Cane Bar
Cool off poolside and sip a refreshing cocktail. Enjoy lunch bites including salads, burgers and more. This is the ultimate beachside dining destination that brings you the cultures and flavours of Mauritius accompanied by evening live music and DJs, daily rituals, al fresco dining and sublime beach vibes.
Open Drinks (10h00 – 23h00), Lunch (12h00 – 15h00) and the Pancake Station is open from 15h00 to 17h00.

Talipot Bar
With breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, this bar is a magnetic gathering point – a bustling central bar specializing in locally inspired cocktails and with regional and imported beer and wine.

KIDS CLUB
Younger travellers at InterContinental Mauritius Resort Balaclava Fort can enjoy a rich variety of activities. Either outdoor or in the signature kids’ club "Planet Trekkers”, providing fun opportunities for children between the ages of 4 and 12 under the skilled supervision of our qualified kids’ club team.
Planet Trekkers offers two separate programmes: for kids aged 4 to 7 and aged 8 to 12, incorporating positive learning experiences, games, arts and crafts, beach activities, local excursions and more. 
The Dodo toddlers’ pool is open for young guests (up to 3 years old). 
Planet Trekkers also offers babysitting services on request and at a supplement.
